How Long is a Moment?

How long is a moment?
Who could even tell?
How long does it take time,
to move from one moment,
to the next?

Sitting in a coffee shop,
Listening to the barista
announce the change to
the next customer, inviting
another to step forward.

Is that one moment, or
is it two? Do moments
have distinctions?
Separations?
Intersecting lines,
ideas,
people?

Or is a moment continuous?
Are we in a moment,
began long ago,
stretching into eternity,
waiting for the next moment,
a moment that will never come.

How long is a moment?
Who can measure one?
What instrument is to
be used to give us the
correct answer?

Time stretches slowly
from one moment
to
the
next.

And as we ponder,
another moment
slips by.
